Another Dumbass

Oops! The Obungler in Chief has made another, amateurish Obooboo. Speaking to New Hampshire voters at a town hall meeting in Nashua, the president was discussing the need to curb spending during difficult economic circumstances.

"When times are tough, you tighten your belts," the president said, "You don't go buying a boat when you can barely pay your mortgage. You don't blow a bunch of cash on Vegas when you're trying to save for college."

While this is the first time the surprisingly inept president has assaulted the boating industry, this is his second shot at the City of Las Vegas, Nevada. It was only a short year ago that the same self-righteous politician castigated businesses that had taken government bailout money about holding conferences and business meetings in Las Vegas. "You can't go take that trip to Las Vegas or go down to the Super Bowl on taxpayers' dime," Mr. Obama said at the time.

The amateur president’s swipe at Las Vegas is a little difficult to comprehend, unless it was just complete political stupidity on Mr Obama’s part, which is the more probable explanation. Las Vegas is one of the principle income generating areas of the State of Nevada, home of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), the chief supporter of Mr Obama’s failed bid to take over of the nation’s Heath Care system.

Reid responded to the Obama's depredation of Las Vegas with predictable ire, saying "The President needs to lay off Las Vegas and stop making it the poster child for where people shouldn't be spending their money." In an effort to make the response to the president’s gaffe a bi-partisan affair, Republican Senator John Ensign piped in with some anger of his own, saying "Las Vegas is suffering through one of the highest unemployment rates in the country, and we cannot afford for the President to bring us down any further."

Republican Congressman Dean Heller added, “Nevada has one of the most distressed economies in the country, and the President has done little to focus on job creation over the past year. Discouraging people from coming to our state to make a political point adds insult to injury," said.

The bumbling chief executive was compelled to write a letter of apology to Senator Reid, in which he said “There’s no better place to have fun than Las Vegas.” Just not during a recession, I guess.

The Bumbler-in-Chief seems to lurch from one foolish mistake to another, most of them below the radar screens of the dangerously negligent main stream media, who continue to cover for a man clearly over his head with an admittedly difficult job. Can we really afford to entertain this level of ineptitude at the highest level of government in this country? At a time in history when radical Islamists in Iran nearly have nuclear capability and economic collapse is pending world-wide, perhaps Mr. Obama might be better suited for another government job more aligned with his capability. The TSA is still hiring.
